The REAL Reason You Haven't Got a Client Yet

And how you can change that.

Had a bunch of you book calls from my last email, and it was a pleasure chatting to you!

But I noticed a common theme among everyone I talked to.

None of you had clients, and you all failed to answer the questions I asked in order to determine whether you’re suitable to work with me.

Now, I’m no copywriting expert.

But I am adept enough to answer almost any marketing question confidently.

Are you?

I’m gonna break it down nice and clear for you all, so you can understand exactly what you need to start doing in order to bag yourself a client the next time you book a sales call.

Can you confidently say you’re capable of writing brand copy?

Can you confidently say you’re capable of building a landing page?

Can you confidently say you’re capable of writing engaging hooks for ads?

These are just a handful of skills you need to know in order to get a client.

Fun fact:

Every single person that booked a call and showed me their portfolio, had nothing but direct response copy targeting the fitness niche.

News flash - You are NEVER going to write or a fitness influencer.

The niche is saturated and too many dweebs aren’t compos mentis enough to think of another niche to target.

Another mind bending question that literally NOBODY managed to answer:

Me - “I’m an engineer that manufactures large metal containers. How can you, the expert, help me make more sales?”

“Copywriter” - “Uuuughghhhhhhhhhhg” *Begins drooling*

Seriously sit there and ask yourself if you can answer that question.

Cos I wanted to bash my head against a fucking wall when every single one of you failed to answer it on the call to me.

I’m going to tell you how to answer that question - so you better pay attention and take some notes cos this isn’t fucking difficult to understand.

First of all, you need to identify what information you have access to:

  • What do they sell?

  • Who is their target audience?

  • Are they already marketing?

  • How do they currently make their sales?

  • What is their budget for ad campaigns?

  • What are their profit margins?

  • Do they have an email list?

  • Are they on social media?

Very fucking simple.

Not one person I spoke to was competent enough to ask these questions, or at the very least, articulate the fact that they didn’t have the answer due to their lack of understanding about the scenario I presented.

Step fucking 1 - Make sure you have the answers to all of those questions. If you dont, then ASK!!!!

Step 2 - this step depends on their answers, so i’m gonna give you a worst case scenario to help you follow up on these answers:

Client - “We don’t have an email list, we don’t have social media, we don’t have a budget for ads, our profit margins are 25% / sale, our target audience are factories that need big metal containers, and businesses that buy these containers to rent out, and all our sales come from referrals.”

How do you market their business?

If you can’t answer that question on the spot,

YOU ARE NOT READY.

I’m gonna assume that you can’t and just give you the answer, in the hopes that you take something away from this and start implementing a problem solving attitude into your personality:

  1. You do have an email list, you just don’t know it. Give me access to the software you use to book your calls, the software you use to collect payments, and any other softwares you use that require customers to enter their details. I can export the csv file and import that data into an email software to build you an email list.

  2. I can build your social media

  3. You don’t need to run ads yet

  4. I will build you a landing page to push leads from social media to your newsletter, and i will run your email marketing campaigns once i have imported your customer data. Once we start running campaigns you’ll start seeing anything from 50% - 400% increase in conversion rates and with the additional profits, we can then begin running ads.

That is a very simple breakdown of what you could say in that scenario.
